2022 SCARECROW TRAIL - "Out of this World"

Sunshine and scarecrows - we were lucky again with the weather this year, and  our scarecrows did not disappoint!

This year's theme was 'Out of this World' with every scarecrow having an Out of this World / Space reference in the title.    29 brilliant scarecrows visited our village during May half term  thanks to  school families, local residents, and children and teachers at the school.   We also had bonus scarecrows at the New Inn Pub and  Parish Rooms and our beautiful village church.

Trail goers came in their hundreds, and enjoyed a walk around our  beautiful village  with the fun of guessing the scarecrows along route.  This year we had our first interactive scarecrow, and a community scarecrow with stars made by local residents!

Our final total raised was a record £2300 - all funds go to  Friends of  Westwood with Iford School  to fund new facilities for the children - this year being spent on new gym equipment to enhance PE lessons.

Have a look at the answers below - did you get them all right?

A huge thank you to all of our scarecrow makers - the standard was really high as ever.    The votes have been counted for the best scarecrow and the top placed are ...

1st - The Clangers by the Green Family

2nd - General Grievous by the Augusztinyi  Family

3rd - Paul by Geoff & Annette Dinley

Congratulations to you all    :-)

It  was our pleasure to be able to promote some wonderful local businesses - Westwood Stores and   The New Inn Pub who did a fantastic job selling our maps  and   Iford Manor, Downside  Nurseries, Number 10 Tea Garden  and Bradford on Avon  dog enrichment fields  - all of whom provided prizes.  Not forgetting Westwood Parish Rooms and their afternoon teas.    We are so grateful for your help and support.

Many thanks to   Westwood Social Club  for the very kind use of your car park throughout the trail week - our trail goers loved your refreshment afternoons too.

Lastly thank you so much to all our enthusiastic trail goers for attending and supporting this event year-on-year.  You can follow us on facebook or instagram or email us by clicking the icons below - it's a great way to keep in touch and find out about next year's trail as soon as the theme is agreed.

We look forward to seeing you again next year!
