2021 SCARECROW TRAIL - "Colours"

After over a year of Covid restrictions, and the disappointment of last year's cancelled trail,   the sun shone and our brilliant scarecrow makers did not disappoint!

This year's theme was 'Colours' with every scarecrow having either a colour or  colourful reference in the title.    28 brilliant scarecrows visited our village during May half term  thanks to  school families, local residents, and children and teachers at the school.   We also had a bonus scarecrow at the New Inn Pub.

Trail goers came in their hundreds, and enjoyed a walk around our  beautiful village  with the fun of guessing the scarecrows along route.  We hosted our first ever mini children's trail which  ran alongside the main trail, and sold our first ever merchandise - limited edition Westwood Scarecrow Trail pencils!

Our final total raised was £1765 - all funds go to  Friends of  Westwood with Iford School  to fund new facilities and resources for the children.

Have a look at the answers below - did you get them all right?

A huge thank you to all of our scarecrow makers - the standard was really high as ever.    The votes have been counted for the best scarecrow and the top placed are ...

1st - Gandalf the Grey by  Kirstie Harvey

2nd - Snow White by  Alison Francis

3rd - Yellow Submarine by the Humphries Family

Congratulations to you all    :-)

It  was our pleasure to be able to promote some wonderful local businesses - Westwood Stores, The New Inn Pub and The Cafe at Iford Manor - all of whom sold our maps.  Not forgetting Westwood Parish Rooms and their afternoon teas / cake sale for the school.    We are so grateful for your help and support.

Many thanks to   Westwood Social Club  for the very kind use of their car park throughout the trail week.

Thank  you also to everyone who also helped to sell maps on the Sundays when the shop was shut.

Lastly thank you so much to all our enthusiastic trail goers for attending and supporting this event year-on-year.  You can follow us on facebook, twitter or instagram or email us by clicking the icons below - it's a great way to keep in touch and find out about next year's trail as soon as the theme is agreed.

We look forward to seeing you again next year!
