​2016 SCARECROW TRAIL - "Children's Books, Old & New"

What a fantastic week we had this year. The sun shone, the scarecrows dazzled, and the children (& adults!) puzzled as they pondered over our 37 scarecrows. We had a scarecrow for everyone - from timeless classics such as Treasure Island & Gullivers Travels, to the more recent Stick Man & Grandpa's Great Escape. Voted by some as our best trail yet, which was confirmed in the record breaking sales... the total raised was £1716, to be shared between Westwood with Iford School and Westwood Nursery.

We must say a huge thank you to Lindsay, Ray, Rita and the team at Costcutters for selling the trail maps so enthusiastically as always.
Thanks also to  Westwood Social Club   for the use of their car park throughout the trail week.

This year popular local author  Maudie Smith  came into school  to talk to our year 1-3 children about her new book "All the King's Tights" and about being an author - this was a great way to launch the trail, so thanks to Maudie for her time.
